Sherlock has been adopted!

Sherlock is a 12-13 year old male. He is very sweet and gentle and loves to be petted. He has some trouble with his vision and hearing due to being a senior Boston. Sherlock was originally dumped at a WV pound, then adopted by someone who apparently kept him outside. He was infested with fleas and he has not been fed well for several months and is very thin. He has made his way to rescue through the help of a very kind savior. The vet that examined Sherlock did not find anything wrong - no problems with blood work and no tumors.

Sherlock needs a loving home to live out his years as a pampered senior Boston.

If you would like to make a donation or become a sponsor parent for Sherlock, donations are needed to pay her vet expenses.

See Sherlock on our Petfinder page.

Pippi has been adopted!

Pippi is an extremely sweet young female who was dumped at a high kill shelter for unknown reasons. She was bright red all over and had lost all of her hair on her back and rear. She has now been spayed, treated for mites, fleas, worms, and allergies and is up to date on her shots. Although her hair is still very thin and she takes Benadryl daily, she is a very happy, loving young girl. Pippi is 3-4 years old, loves to play ball or play with squeaky toys, loves car rides, walks, snuggling next to you - anything you do, she is happy to do.

URGENT
Pippi is currently in foster care with other dominant females and needs to be in a home where she can be the dominant female.
She is being kept separate from the females in her foster home to keep the peace, but she needs to have a home where she can relax.
Pippi is wonderful with older children and gets along with all dogs except those that try to take her toys.
**Please contact us if you have no other pets and can foster Pippi**

If you would like to make a donation or become a sponsor parent for Pippi, donations are needed to pay her vet expenses.

Andy - Adopted!

Andy is approximately one year old. He is a sweet, loving little guy with some housetraining issues. He is also deaf. Andy desperately needs a home with an owner who is sufficiently skilled to train and care for a deaf animal. He is otherwise healthy, loves kids, and is a happy little guy. He is a little too exuberant for very small children or small or submissive dogs but loves to play with everyone.

Maddie - Adopted!

Maddie is about seven months old. She was a puppymill victim who spent three months of her life in a petstore cage before being saved by a wonderful person. Although she has been very loved, she now needs a home where she can receive lots of attention. She is not quite housebroken, and has a very nervous digestive system so is on a special diet until she matures. She loves to play and seems to love everyone. She will be spayed before placement.

Toby - Adopted!

See Toby's Video

Toby is 1-2 years old so a "teenager" in doggie terms. He needs lots of exercise, loves to sit on your lap and sleep in bed, loves to run in the yard. He loves big dogs but gets along with all dogs. He seems to be OK with cats also. He is housebroken, neutered, up to date on shots. Issues are chewing (shoes, furniture) when bored and still a little grabby with food and treats. The adoption fee for Toby is $200.

Sammy - Adopted!

Sammy is approximately six years old. He’s a large, healthy Boston weighing about 35-40 pounds. He’s a good natured little man who loves affection. He was the pride and joy of his Momma who passed away this Fall and he still misses her dearly. He suffers from separation anxiety and tends to be “destructive” if left alone (or not in his kennel). He’s not destructive to be mean, he has scratched up some doors just trying to get someone’s attention. He probably needs some obedience training. He jumps on people when excited. He is both kennel trained and housebroken. He may need minor help with the potty manners. His Momma had gotten very ill before she passed away and often couldn't let Sammy out when he needed to go. He's doing much better now, but he may still have an occasional accident.

My children and I are constantly on the move which leaves poor Sammy alone for most of the day. This is very hard on him and he really needs to be with a parent or parents who can give him the time and attention that he deserves. He’s very good with my children, and shows no food aggression that I can tell. My five year old daughter has practically parked herself in Sam's bowl during his dinner, and he basically ignores her while enjoying his meal. He is a male dominant dog and he’s very territorial, so he should probably be the only “man dog” of the house.

In general Sam is a good natured little guy who would make a wonderful companion.

Cassie and Jake - Adopted!

Cassie and Jake are senior dogs, whose owner died. They both need fairly extensive medical care, with a total estimate of $1600. They do not need homes together, but do need homes of their own. Jake is very active and extremely friendly, about 7 years old. Cassie is older but we don't know how much. She loves to play but is a little more cautious around people and dogs (not unfriendly just a little scared).

Sammy
Sammy has been adopted and is doing excellently!

He has his own outfits for rain, Sunday best, etc. He has a best friend named Max and is almost completely recovered from everything except loss of the one eye.

Sammy's Story
Sammy was rescued from a group of children who were kicking him. He had either been thrown from a car or hit by one, causing the eye injury and multiple abrasions all over his body. His liver was damaged by trauma as well. $1400 worth of medical care will probably save him and allow him to lead a fairly normal life. His liver is healing, the abrasions are healing, a small tumor on his leg will be removed during his eye surgery to remove that terrible looking eye seen in his photo and he will also be neutered. This boy gave kisses to his rescuer, me, the vet staff and a small child sitting in the clinic. This is while he was in so much pain he couldn't even eat.

Peggy Sue
Peggy Sue is an eight and a half year old spayed Boston Terrier. She obviously had good care at some point in her life, as she is crate trained and sits for treats. She is deaf, but extremely responsive to touch and visual motions. She gets along well with other dogs and with cats, but would probably not do well with young children. She has two very bad patellas which are being evaluated for surgery. Peggy Sue just wants desperately to have someone to take her on walks, cuddle with her on the sofa and in bed, and to love her.
Update 7/12/2004 - Peggy Sue has been adopted and is enjoying her new family!

Kermit - now Baxter
Kermit came in almost dead from whipworm, hookworm, tapeworm, coccidia, ear infections and weightloss. It took four trips to the vet, four doses of wormer, neutering, special diet, medicine, and lots of love and money, but he has now been adopted by a wonderful family who have named him Baxter.

Baxter sleeps in their bed, plays constantly, and doesn't seem to even remember the hard times.

Cameo - Adopted!

Cameo is seven years old, sweet, and healthy. His owner has had to move in with her mother who has Alzheimer's and little Cameo is living in a crate. His owner wants to find a home for him where he can have a yard and companionship again.

See Cameo on our Petfinder page.

Cindy Lou Who - Adopted!

I rescued Cindy Lou Who the Thursday before Christmas from a shelter that had already marked her euthanized. The shelter also had parvo, so we spent a tense 15 days waiting to see if she contracted it. Fortunately, she is healthy. She had a tumor that was removed and found to be benign. She is now spayed, up to date on shots, groomed, and ready to go to a new home. Cindy is ten to twelve years old, she never barks or whimpers, gets along with other dogs but prefers a home where she gets lots of lap time and petting. She loves to go for walks and car rides, and loves treats as long as no one tries to foist dog biscuits on her. She had a severe skin problem, which was probably a flea infestation. She is being treated for it and looks 100% better already. She is eating Evo, which has no grains, and needs to stay on a high protein, low carbohydrate diet.

Guido

Guido - Adopted!

Guido came to rescue malnourished and with signs of attacks from other animals. He was extremely nervous for several days and cried constantly. He is now much calmer, although he displays all the energy of an adolescent male. He is housebroken although some marking after placement has to be expected because he is very recently neutered. Guido likes other dogs and is very gentle so is probably good with even fairly young children. He will receive all vaccinations before placement as well.
